To Make this Southern Fried Catfish Recipe you'll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 Tsp of lemon pepper
  • 1 Tsp of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups of plain yellow cornmeal
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 lbs of catfish fillets (fresh seafood caught in the lakes
  • Canola oil for frying
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 2 Tsp of salt
  • 1 cup of plain flour
  • 1 Tsp of garlic powder

Follow these directions to prepare this easy Fried Catfish:

Start by whisking together the eggs, buttermilk, and place them into a shallow bowl.

Then place flour, and cornmeal into another shallow bowl, then add seasonings and mix very well (you can also Minimize or opt-out of black pepper and cayenne if too spicy for you).

And dip the catfish fillets into the buttermilk and egg mixture and let the excess drip off. Then dip the fillets into the dry mix and cover the catfish fillets completely. 

And make sure they are fully coated well. Then set it aside on a plate.
